DO WE CARE IF WE LOSE OUR FREEDOM, DO WE CARE IF THE WORLD WERE TO END? It seems we don't.

In a speech by Kurt Vonnegut in front of 2,000 students at Ohio State University he said,"Well, I just want to say that George W. Bush is the syphilis president."
"The only difference between Bush and Hitler is that Hitler was elected."

Recently retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor said:
"I am against judicial reforms driven by nakedly partisan reasoning. Pointing to the experiences of developing countries and former communist countries where interference with an independent judiciary has allowed dictatorship to flourish, O'Connor said we must be ever-vigilant against those who would strong arm the judiciary into adopting their preferred policies. It takes a lot of degeneration before a country falls into a dictatorship, she said, but we should avoid these ends by avoiding these beginnings."

I don't think this country, as a whole, realizes what we are degenerating into. The government is becoming more secret, while the people's privacy is being eroded in the name of security. There is a major shift happening to the wealth of this country through tax cuts, job cuts, outsourcing and corporate greed.

This government is being run like Enron and I'm afraid we are going to meet the same end. And sticking your head in the sand isn't going to make it go away. Our global environment is being treated like a global junkyard. There's a link in my "sources" section that shows a world map and all the attention-needing areas of the environment that long ago should have been attention-getting areas.

I don't understand the apathy. Posted by Picasa
